David Lewis

I started motorcycle riding when I was in my mid twenty’s. I didn’t have my own bike so I rode my cousins 125 Honda and a friend’s dirt bike. It was not until I got married that I bought my first bike to save on gas back and forth to work.
It was after my brother in law Wayne started riding when he and my wife and I decided that it would be nice to do some touring. It was when I was looking for a touring bike I thought of a Goldwing bike but I said to myself “who would want a bike this big”?
I found a Honda ST1100 in Vancouver for $7200.00 so my wife and I went over and looked at it
and decided to buy it. That year we (my brother-in-law, my wife, and I) went on a ride down the Oregon Coast.

It was a lot of fun. Wayne and I started talking about if we are going to do long rides that a Gold Wings would be the way to go. So I started looking around and so did Wayne for Goldwing bikes. I saw an ad in the buy, sell, & trade for a 2000 Goldwing SE Candy Apple Red for $19,000.00 that was in Duncan. We went to see it and as soon as I saw it I said this is the one and bought it.
I had also said in the past “who would want to tow a trailer”, but have since discovered that when you have one it’s nice on long trips. Our second trip in 2005 we went 3600 miles down to Vegas, Scottsdale, Mexicali Mexico
and then headed back home to Victoria up the coast. Our third trip was this year, my wife and I rode to Reno and this ride ended up being a 2,500 mile (4000km) trip. Looking forward to our next ride……………….where ever
it may be………….
